exploratory testing
Interactive testing of an application without a specific script in hand. The tester "explores" the system, making up theories about how it should behave based on what it has already done and then testing those theories to see if they hold up. While there is no rigid plan, exploratory testing is a disciplined activity that is more likely to find real bugs than rigidly scripted tests.
